Q. What is this?
A. Windbuoy.com is a simple map-based interface to hundreds of wind, water and weather reports from NOAA buoys located world wide.
Q. How can I find a buoy near me?
A. The most simple means to finding a buoy near you is clicking on the map near your location. (If neeeded, you can pan the map by dragging with your mouse).
Q. Can I search by ZIP code?
A. Yes, you can search by US ZIP code. In the search bar at the top of the map, simply select 'ZIP Code' in the 'Go To' drop-down and enter the ZIP and press 'Go'. Optionally, you can specify a distance to search.
Q. I know the name of the buoy that I want to see. Can I go straight to it without searching?
A. Absolutely! In the search bar, select 'Buoy ID' in the 'Go To' drop down and enter the buoy ID that you desire. Press 'Go'.
Q. What search bar? Where?
A. If you don't see the search bar at the top of the map, click 'Search' near the upper right of the webpage, the search bar will appear.
Q. What are all of the red markers?
A. Each red marker represents a buoy. Clicking on a marker will display the last report as recorded by the NOAA.
